ACEC
of Maine Welcomes New Manager
Greetings
ACEC of Maine! My name is Paul Lariviere and effective August 1, 2006, I am
your new Executive Director. I am a native of Springfield/Chicopee,
Massachusetts, but I have lived in Maine since February of 1993. My background
includes a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of
Massachusetts in 1966, when there was only one campus in Amherst, and in 1975 I
was awarded a Masters of Engineering in Transportation Engineering from
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York.
Immediately
after graduation from the University of Massachusetts I began my career with
the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), which at that time was known as the
Bureau of Public Roads. After one year of a three-year training program, I
entered on active duty in the U.S. Army and served two years before retuning to
the FHWA. While working for the FHWA, I had assignments in Albany, NY,
Philadelphia, PA, Trenton, NJ, Raleigh, NC, and finally Augusta, ME. While in
Augusta I served as the Division Administrator for the Maine Division Office of
the FHWA. In that capacity I was responsible for the Federal-aid highway
program for the State of Maine.
In
January 2003 I retired from the FHWA having completed 36 years of service.
Shortly after retiring I began working at Maine Tomorrow as a Senior Associate
and in that capacity I have worked on projects for the Maine Turnpike
Authority, the MBTA, the Town of Hamden and SAD#22, the Northeast Manufactured
Housing Association, Packard Development, the overhead utility industry and
Leaders Encouraging Aroostook Development (LEAD). Working closely with me at
Maine Tomorrow will be Ms. Carmen Robillard, a recent addition to our staff
with extensive experience in association management.
I am a
Registered Professional Engineer in New York State and a Member of the American
Society of Engineers. During the month of August
I began working closely with Judith Harvie, your Executive Director for the
past 29 years, on completing a smooth transition into my new position. The
goals during this time are to get to know the Board of Directors and as many
members as I can, and of course to learn more about the ACEC and planning
future programs.
